Install Hyo

Hyo is a beta plugin, so it installs through BRAT rather than Obsidian’s main plugin store. BRAT stands for Beta Reviewers Auto-update Tool. It’s a well-known Obsidian plugin that installs beta plugins straight from GitHub and keeps them updated for you.

The whole thing takes about five minutes.

Step 1: Install BRAT

In Obsidian, open Settings → Community Plugins → Browse, search for BRAT, then install and enable it.

If you’ve never turned on community plugins before, Obsidian will ask you to confirm that first. That’s normal — say yes.

Step 2: Add Hyo

Go to Settings → BRAT → Add Beta Plugin and paste in the Hyo repository address:

Click Add Plugin. BRAT downloads Hyo and installs it.

Step 3: Enable it

Go to Settings → Community Plugins, find Hyo Claude Code Agent in your list, and switch it on.

Step 4: Open Hyo

Press Cmd+Shift+H on Mac, or Ctrl+Shift+H on Windows. The Hyo chat panel opens.

If Claude Code isn’t installed on your machine yet, Hyo shows you a setup screen instead of the chat. That’s expected — go to Install Claude Code and follow it through. If Claude Code is already there, you’ll land straight in the chat, and you can start your first conversation.

Staying updated

Because you installed through BRAT, Hyo updates itself. When there’s a new version, BRAT pulls it in automatically and Hyo shows you a card telling you what changed.

If something doesn’t work

• The panel won’t open. Try the keyboard shortcut again, or open the command palette (Cmd+P / Ctrl+P) and search for “Hyo”.
• You don’t see Hyo in your plugin list. Go back to Settings → BRAT and check it was added, then make sure community plugins are enabled.
