Commands on your notes
Skills live in the slash menu — you open Hyo, type /, and pick one. Commands take the skills you use on the same kind of note again and again, and move them to where the work actually happens: a ✨ button in the note’s header.
Click the button, and Hyo runs that skill with the note attached. No opening the chat first, no typing the slash command, no attaching the file.
Some examples:
- A Summarise command on your meeting notes.
- A Draft newsletter command on your idea notes.
- A Review command on your weekly plan.
How Hyo knows which notes get which buttons
Section titled “How Hyo knows which notes get which buttons”Commands attach to a note type — the type field in a note’s frontmatter (the properties at the top of the note). Every note whose type matches gets the same buttons. So type: meeting notes can carry your meeting commands, while type: idea notes carry different ones.
If your notes don’t use a type property yet, add one to the notes you want buttons on — any value you like, as long as you use it consistently.
Setting one up
Section titled “Setting one up”- Open Settings → Hyo → Commands.
- Under Add a note type, pick a type found in your vault and click Add — that opens the type’s own screen.
- Click Add command, give it a name, and choose the skill it runs.
Open any note of that type and the button is in its header, named whatever you called the command. A note type can hold several commands; they appear together, in the order you’ve arranged them — drag the grip on a row to reorder.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Commands run in a fresh conversation with the note attached, so the result lands in Hyo like any other chat — you can keep talking to it.
- Removing a note type’s commands only removes the buttons; your notes and their type property are untouched.
