Reasoning effort

Alongside the model, you can choose how hard it thinks before answering. That’s the effort setting, and it sits in the same picker in the status bar.

More effort means a more thorough, carefully-reasoned answer. It also means the reply takes longer and uses more of your plan. So it’s a trade-off, and the right setting depends on the job.

Effort When to use it
Low Fastest. For short, simple tasks where you just want a quick answer.
Medium Balanced, and the default. Right for everyday work.
High More thorough. For work where getting it right really matters and you’re happy to wait a bit.
Max The most thorough, and the slowest. Burns through your limits fastest. Save it for the hardest problems.

Hyo starts on Medium, which is the right choice most of the time. Nudge it up when you’re handing the agent something genuinely tricky, and back down when you just want speed.

Like the model, effort is per-tab, and whatever you pick becomes the default for new conversations.
