What skills are

A skill is a ready-made ability you can hand your agent, on demand, by typing a slash command.

Think of it as calling in a specialist. Instead of explaining from scratch how you want a piece of research done or a chart built, you type / and pick a skill, and your agent takes on that way of working for the task.

Using one

Type / in the message box and a menu appears with the skills you can use. Start typing to filter, pick the one you want, then add your request and send.

For example, typing /deep-research and then your question tells your agent to go and research it properly — across sources, checking facts — rather than answering off the top of its head.

Two kinds of skills

• The ones that ship with Hyo — a handful of powerful skills built into Claude Code, ready to use straight away. These are covered on the next page.
• Your own — if you write your own skills, they show up in the same menu alongside the built-in ones. If you write one with the same name as a built-in, yours wins.

You don’t need to make your own to get value here. The built-in ones are worth knowing on their own.
